Chiara Cardoletti, Representative of Italy, the Holy See and San Marino.She was born in Italy in 1973, she graduated in Political Science with a specialization in international law from the European Master in Human Rights and Democratization at the University of Vienna. After working as a consultant at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she joined UNHCR in 2000 serving in numerous operations, including East Timor, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Iran and Afghanistan. In 2015, she was appointed Deputy Representative of UNHCR for the United States and the Caribbean, a role she successfully fulfilled until her arrival in Rome, working closely with the current US administration and those of others. 24 Caribbean countries. Previously, she was responsible for leading and coordinating the protection response for refugees and internally displaced persons in the Republic of Sudan, and also served as special adviser on international human rights and humanitarian law in the Executive Office of the High Commissioner for refugees in Geneva, dealing with issues relating to the protection of refugees around the world. She is an Italian citizen, mother of a child, she is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Italian.
