Luca Maestripieri

AICS Director


From 15 May 2019 Luca Maestripieri (Viareggio -1961) is director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. Graduated in law, he entered the Farnesina in 1989. After a first assignment at the Directorate General for Personnel at the Farnesina, he continued his diplomatic career abroad in Ljubljana and later in Lisbon. In 2004 he was appointed Advisor to the Permanent Representation at the O.N.U. in New York and since 2008, for four years, he has been Consul General in Paris. In 2012 he returned to the Farnesina as Deputy Director of the Development Cooperation DG where he tackled the complex issues related to the reform of cooperation, the establishment of the Agency and the phases preceding and following its full operation. He leaves his position at the Farnesina to lead the Aics following the appointment as Director formalized with D.P.C.M. of 4 April 2019.
